Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Monk mobile application and related services at monk.zone (collectively, the "App" or "Services"), operated by Monk AI Labs Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Monk," "we," "us," or "our").

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Monk, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

By using the App, you represent that you are of legal age and capable of entering into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction.

1. License Grant

The App is licensed, not sold, to you. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license to install and use the App on your Apple-branded devices, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store usage rules.

You may not distribute, rent, lease, sublicense, reverse engineer, or attempt to derive source code from the App except as permitted by applicable law.

2. Description of the App

Monk helps you reduce digital distraction by locking apps you choose and encouraging real habits. The App uses a coin-based system:

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. If you are under 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian. By using Monk, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

4. Screen Time, App Blocking, and Permissions

Monk uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (including Family Controls) to block apps and manage unlock sessions. Detailed Screen Time usage data is processed on your device. You are responsible for choosing which apps to block.

Blocking and unlocking depend on your Monk Coin balance, active scroll sessions, and in-app rules (such as bedtime resistance). You may revoke Screen Time, camera, or notification permissions in your device Settings at any time, though core features may not work without required permissions.

5. Monk Coins and Virtual Economy

Monk Coins are a virtual in-app reward. They are not legal tender, have no cash value, and cannot be exchanged, sold, or transferred outside the App.

6. Quick Coins and User-Submitted Content

Some habits ("Quick Coins") require you to take a photo for automated verification. By submitting a Quick Coin photo, you represent that:

Quick Coin verification uses automated systems (including third-party AI). Verification is not guaranteed, and we may reject submissions that fail verification or appear fraudulent. Photos are uploaded temporarily for verification and deleted from our servers once validation completes. We do not retain Quick Coin photos after verification. 8. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in Monk (including designs, software code, trademarks, Monk Coins as a virtual feature, and content) are owned by Monk AI Labs Inc. or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App without our prior written consent.

9. Privacy and Data

Your use of Monk is governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

You consent that Monk may collect anonymized diagnostic and usage data to improve performance, fix issues, and enhance the user experience.

10. Account, Termination, and Deletion

You may delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete Account. Account deletion permanently removes your personal data from our systems, including habit progress and coin ledger data, except where retention is required by law (for example, payment records handled by Apple).

Quick Coin photos are not retained after verification; account deletion removes all other personal data we hold.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using and uninstall the App.

11. Subscriptions and Payments

Access to core Monk features requires an active subscription unless we offer a free trial or promotional access.

11.1 Auto-Renewing Subscriptions

Monk may offer subscription-based access to premium features ("Subscription"). Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the billing period, your Subscription automatically renews and your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to period end.

11.2 Subscription Management

You can manage or cancel your Subscription at any time via your Apple ID account settings. Once a Subscription period begins, it cannot be canceled for that period, and no refunds are provided for unused portions except as required by Apple or applicable law. If canceled, you retain access until the current billing cycle ends.

11.3 Free Trials and Promotional Offers

Monk may offer free trials, referral rewards, or promotional pricing (including Pro access via referral codes). If you start a free trial, you will be charged automatically at the regular Subscription rate when the trial ends unless you cancel beforehand. Eligibility for promotions is determined by Monk and may change. We may revoke promotional benefits obtained through fraud or abuse.

11.4 Changes to Subscription Plans or Pricing

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue Subscription plans, features, or pricing at any time. Material changes will be communicated in advance and take effect at the start of your next billing period where required. If you do not agree to new terms, cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.

11.5 Billing Through Apple

All billing, payment, and refund matters are handled by Apple via your Apple ID account and are subject to Apple's terms and policies. Monk AI Labs Inc. does not process or access your payment information directly.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Monk AI Labs Inc. disclaims all warranties—express, implied, or statutory—including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free performance, successful Quick Coin verification, or specific habit or screen-time outcomes.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions; in such cases, they apply only to the extent allowed by law.

14. External Services

The App integrates with or provides access to third-party services (including Apple, Google Firebase, OpenAI, Mixpanel, Singular, and RevenueCat). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of any external services, and your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

15. Export Compliance

You agree to comply with all U.S. export and re-export restrictions that apply to the App and its technology. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to U.S. embargo or on any U.S. restricted-party list.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and your use of the App will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable in the United States, excluding any conflict-of-law principles that would apply the laws of another jurisdiction.

If any dispute arises under these Terms, it will be resolved in accordance with applicable laws and procedures in the United States. If you are not a U.S. resident, mandatory consumer protection laws in your country may apply to certain provisions of these Terms.
